What do we care?

As the servant reaches out,
But the prince does strike him down.

As the slave does lift her eyes,
But the princess does despise.
As the bondsman stands his ground,
But the king does make him drown.
As the Son does see the need,

But who does care?

And the Son does see the need.
So the Father seeks their peace.
And the Spirit hears them bleed.

So do we care?

Shall the oppressed rise above,
When the oppressors smash with clubs?
Shall the mastered now submit,
When the masters never quit?
Shall the workers strive and groan,
When the bosses strike their blows?
Shall the Son now see the need

When no one cares?

And the Son does see the need.
So the Father seeks their peace.
And the Spirit hears them bleed.

So do we care?

Do we see things as they really are,
Or are we looking from afar?
Do we see those things unfair,
Or do we see the hurting everywhere?
Do we see Jesus in all men,
Or shall we see slaves as really friends?
Do we let color-blindness win,

Or should we care?

And the Son does see the need.
So the Father seeks their peace.
And the Spirit hears them bleed.

Should we still care?

Do you still care?
